RAIDHO
AKA: Reid, Rad
How to Pronounce Raidho: ‘Ryed-ho’
Letter: R
Raidho is the rune of travel, the Journey. This rune represents the physical wheel of a cartwheel, which was the only ‘vehicle’ for travelling in ancient Northern Europe.
Raidho indicates the start of a journey, and this can be interpreted on a physical, spiritual or emotional level. In terms of a physical journey Raidho signals a pleasant experience with little to no mishaps along the way. For a spiritual or emotional journey it indicates a great deal of flexibility on your part, with the end result proving to be both enlightening and productive.
Whatever the journey you are advised to keep your focus on the experience rather than the intended destination, as Raidho is related to not just the means of travel, but also the road on which you travel. As such, you should make the absolute most of every moment along the way.
RAIDHO REVERSED
"the reversed may indicate obstacles and/or delays"
Where Raidho represents a journey with little to no issues, the reversed may indicate obstacles and/or delays along the path. It signifies hindrances that may stand in the way. A prominent example for our lives currently is the Covid pandemic, which has been a large obstacle for many peoples Journeys, both in terms of physical journeys to new and different places, to issues with personal growth.
Reversed Raidho can also be applied to a journey that may be unpleasant, for example a place you would rather not visit/re-visit.

NOTES FROM THE SHAMAN
"the rune reminds me to strive for physical strength"
Drawing Raidho before you embark on a journey, whether it's physical, spiritual or emotional can be a good reminder to keep your mind focussed on the experience and not the destination.
In my case the journey is my own personal growth, starting with a lot of work in a job that I don't necessarily like. Raidho reminds me to focus on each day and to make the most of it, rather than the end goal.
Reversed Raidho in this sense reminds me that although I may not particularly like this stage of the journey, it's still imperative to my overall growth. It keeps me on track, and stops me from solely focusing on the end goal which is a long way away.
Keeping my mind away from the end goal allows me to find enjoyment within each day, which contributes to my overall growth in both a physical and emotional sense. I develop patience from this, and it teaches me acceptance. This is most prevalent in my martial arts journey, as my training journey has become more important than starting fighting, ensuring I'm constantly improving day by day rather than rushing for my first fight.
